The Trucking Activism Network (TAN)
The Trucking Activism Network was founded in 2012 with a vision of providing a platform for activism movements within the trucking industry. Since its creation, our awareness campaign know as The Truckers Missing Child Project became very successful and has now taken the lead of our organization. As we prepare to move forward towards a 501 Non-Profit status, we have begun to reorganize under the name of The Truckers Missing Child Project with this being our primary mission.
The Truckers Missing Child Project The Truckers Missing Child Project utilizes social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook to relay important information about Missing Children and Amber Alerts to Americas Truck Drivers and the general public. We also use traditional methods such as flyer distributions, etc. As of October, 2013 we have 1,800+ followers between our Facebook & Twitter pages. Our secondary mission is to help fight against Human Trafficking, a form of modern day slavery. Human Trafficking is very closely related to Missing Children. Did you Know that an estimated 800,000 children go missing each year? A majority of those are runaways. Did you know that an estimated 1 in 3 runaways are approached and lured into sex trafficking within the first 48 hours? We work closely with other missing and anti human trafficking groups and have recently formed a partnership with SOL Media Network & Resources in Miami, Florida. SOL (Sharing Our Love) is Non-Profit Group that Mobilizes the community to combat human trafficking and provides a street outreach program. They have also put together a Coast to Coast Motorcycle Rally against Child Sex Trafficking. ( www.freedomandhoperally.org ) Our Status:
Being a newly founded Non-Profit group we are not currently reconized by any Federal or State Agencies as such. However, we will be taking the proper steps to accomplish said recognition in the near future. Therefore at this time we are not allowed to legally accept donations to help support our work. We can recommend other great organizations to donate to should you be interested. We can only ask that interested individuals support us by volunteering their time by becoming an Awareness Member. Becoming an Awareness Member is free and easy. All you have to do is follow us on Facebook and /or Twitter, receive our Missing Child Alerts and Be On The Lookout for them during your travels.
Our Social Media Platform
As stated above, Our main form of communication is presented through our Social Media Platforms such as Facebook ( www.facebook.com/TheTruckersMissingChildProject ) and Twitter ( www.twitter.com/TruckinActivism ) We post Nationwide Missing Child Alerts from The National Center For Missing & Exploited Children ( www.missingkids.com ), Missing cases that we have been approached by the family of a Missing Child and also share Missing Child Flyers from other individuals and groups. We also try to post as many Amber Alerts as we can as they also are very important to get out to our Truckers.
